Mazda will be providing updates for the 2022 Mazda 3 and MX-5 Miata. As of late, the Japanese automaker has been focusing on its upcoming all-new SUVs like the CX-50 and CX-60. Mazda has also been busy improving its all-electric MX-30. Despite the busy schedule, the automaker is still considering some of its favorites. For the new model year, Mazda will be updating the Mazda 3 and MX-5 Miata with new exterior colors, additional interior materials, and new drive train technology. We’ll look further into the specifics, but for now, Mazda fans can rejoice that some of their favorite vehicles will continue to get better.

Changes to the 2022 Mazda 3

Mazda will be making several changes to the 2022 Mazda 3. Despite the Mazda 3 being in its fourth generation, it has continued to be a popular sedan given its style and performance. For new changes, Mazda will be adding new colors to the sedan’s palette including a Platinum Quartz Metallic exterior color. The 2022 Mazda 3 will also receive a new 2.5 S Carbon Edition trim that will fit between the Preferred and Premium levels.

The Mazda 3 2.5 S Carbon Edition trim will come equipped with a 2.5L naturally aspirated inline-four powertrain. It will also come equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive system. The sedan will also receive black wheels and side mirrors, a Polymetal gray metallic exterior paint, a red leather interior, and several of the Preferred package options.

Changes to the 2022 MX-5 Miata

For the 2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata, the Japanese automaker will be making several changes including a new Kinematic Posture Control (KPC) feature. This new addition is a power-vectoring control system that utilizes the Miata’s brakes to help the roadster better mitigate body rolls. It also drastically improves the steering response, making it feel more linear.

This new KPC feature works by directing more torque to the outside rear wheel using a differential. When cornering in the Miata, this feature will apply a small level of braking to the inside wheel. This feature works in conjunction with the Miata’s limited-slip differential to give drivers more control. In addition to this new Kinematic Posture Control feature, Mazda will also provide a new paint color option for the 2022 MX-5 Miata, Platinum Quartz Metallic.

With new changes to the 2022 Mazda 3 and MX-5 Miata, Mazda fans can rejoice. These updates will bring new life as well as better control to these two classic vehicles.
