Here’s a Few Reasons Why Fans Should Wait for the 2025 Mazda Miata
The Mazda Miata has been and remains a beloved sports car since its introduction in 1989. One of the most popular cars in automotive history, the MX-5 offers more than ten good reasons. The classic roadster design, the lightweight, compact body, and the front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout make the MX-5 Miata a dream car for many sports car enthusiasts. Furthermore, its affordability and engaging exterior design only magnify its appeal.
For avid Mazda Miata fans considering the purchase of a sports car soon, here’s some exciting news. Consider holding off on the investment for the next model year (2025). The automotive world is excited over the release of the 2025 Mazda Miata, and there are compelling reasons to wait for the upcoming model instead of going for another sports car.
The Most Powerful Miata Yet
The impending Miata promises to redefine what we assume to be acceleration with an expected boost in power output. Although it may not pack the same punch as its larger cousin, the 3.3-liter inline-six Mazda CX-60, the next-generation MX-5 may offer more power than the current model (2023 Mazda Miata MX-5).
The Miata has a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that generates 181 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque. It’s available in three trim levels – Sport, Club, and Grand Touring. However, with the possibility of electrification, the 2025 model year will offer an electric motor setup to increase power output to new levels.
Fuel Consumption
The future Miata will revolutionize the driving experience with impressive fuel efficiency. Thanks to advancements in engine technology, streamlined designs, and weight reduction, the next-generation Miata promises to be more efficient than ever. Say hello to saving money on fuel costs and an extended driving experience.
As per EPA estimates for the 2023 Mazda Miata, the current model, the sports car, gets 26 MPG in the city and 35 MPG on the highway, which makes for a combined fuel consumption of 29 MPG. Despite being lightweight, the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine is efficient and delivers excellent economy for a sports car. However, with the potential introduction of a hybrid or electric powertrain, the fuel consumption of the future Mazda sports car may excel even further.
A Jaw-Dropping Design
The upcoming Miata promises to be a head-turner wherever it goes. It’s not just about performance, as the sleek design of the Miata is equally impressive. While most of the details about the 2025 model are mere speculation, it’s almost absolute that the Japanese automaker will aim for an improved design and layout. The Mazda sports car may include head and tail light updates, sharper front and rear ends, and a color change. The next-generation Miata will fully embrace Mazda’s exquisite Kodo design language, which has evolved exquisitely over the years. Kodo’s design principles ensure that the Miata will stand out.
An All-Electric Powertrain?
Amid rising emission concerns and rapidly increasing sales of electric vehicles, it’s no surprise that Mazda is considering electrifying the MX-5 Miata. To comply with the new Euro 7 emission standards, Mazda plans to introduce three new EVs by 2025.
Currently, Mazda has yet to reveal the extent of the electric upgrades it will make to its Japanese roadster. Mazda has traditionally not offered plug-in or fully electric models, so hybrids are the most likely option. While rumors continue circulating, looking forward to a new Miata is exciting, even if it significantly differs from a hybrid or electric setup.

Sorry to learn of the MX5 going E in 2025. Hopefully they will offer a gas, standard tranny, too. Still enjoying my NA1 after 24 years of ownership.
Beautiful Style! She is a Beauty
Will Mazda be making an electric MX-5 ?
If Miata goes electric, no more Miatas from me.
Not into the electric nonsense.
I really appreciate this post. Because I searched for such a post in many places but could not find it anywhere! I am lucky that I got it from someone. And that made my day! Heartfelt thanks to him and to this website owner

Direct fuel injection was bad enough (valve carbon). But now electrification? Count me out. Build the car as it is suppoesed to be or build something else, but don’t expect Miata enthusiasts to buy it because it says “MX5” on the trunk. Mustang Mach-E ring any alarm bells? Oh and , wait for 2025 to buy??? Cute way of trying to boost sales of a car fewer people will want. Wonder what genius approved that…
Would like to have more comfortable seats n larger trunk
