Replacement Engines for the Mazda 3 and CX-30

The Mazda CX-30 and Mazda 3 are flagships for the originators of “Zoom-Zoom.” However, the Mazda hatchback and SUV’s significance spans beyond America to global fandom. The Japanese automaker has made exceptional strides in the transition toward sustainability, especially with the release of the new platform, engines, and SUVs. So the Japanese market will inherit the compact Mazdas with one vital alteration. The naturally aspirated 2.0-liter engine is no longer available. Instead, the Japanese automaker’s home market will replace the 2.0-liter engine with the e-SKYACTIV G 2.0, a mild hybrid system. Furthermore, Mazda assures that the new engine is quieter and provides a healthier acceleration. 

Other alterations for the Mazda lineup include the consolidation of its higher-end trims on the “Proactive Touring Selection” trim. In addition, the “Proactive Touring Selection” trim will also reveal a more exclusive model with its new interior trim and authentic leather upholstery. Moreover, the Mazda 3 has the option to captivate passengers with either burgundy or black leather interior, and the CX-30 can wow its occupants with its white or black interior. 

Although the overhaul may not read as significant, Mazda has brand new models such as the CX-60, CX-70, CX-80, and CX-90 awaiting their dealership debuts. In addition, the Mazda 3 and CX-30 for the 2023 model year will go on sale in September (2022). Exclusive to Japan, the Mazda CX-30 holds a starting price of $16,950, while the 3 premiers with a starting price of $18,200. 

What remains uncertain is whether the significant overhauls will reach the American market. We know that the Japanese and US markets differ in various ways. For instance, the smallest engine sold for the Mazda 3 and CX-30 is the naturally aspirated 2.5-liter motor, and the turbocharged variation propels the compact’s premium trims.
