Mazda Revamps the 2025 CX-5 with a Lower Base Price and Updated Features

Mazda isn’t planning to phase out the CX-5, even with the introduction of the slightly larger CX-50. The Japanese automaker is making the 2025 model year more attractive than ever. This decision is welcome, given the compact crossover’s impressive track record, including four 10Best awards.

Mazda has reintroduced the 2.5 S base model for the 2025 CX-5, reducing the entry price by $730 compared to last year (2024 model year). The price reduction serves as a refreshing move in a market where prices typically rise year after year. The 2.5 S trim, along with the other non-turbo variants, is powered by Mazda’s reliable 187-horsepower four-cylinder engine. Standard features include cloth seats, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support.

Pricing adjustments for the rest of the CX-5 lineup are minimal. The Select and Preferred trims now start at $29,900* and $31,250* (excludes taxes and destination fees). The Carbon Edition’s price starts at $32,600*. Unfortunately, the non-turbocharged Premium trim is no longer alive, but the Premium Plus trim now starts at a lower cost of $35,200*. The turbocharged variants have either maintained their 2024 pricing or seen slight reductions. The Carbon Turbo commences at $37,000*, the Turbo Premium at $37,800*, and the Turbo Signature at $40,600*.

In addition to these pricing updates, Mazda has upgraded the CX-5’s interior by replacing the old USB-A ports in the front console with dual USB-C ports, offering more modern connectivity options. However, Mazda has not provided any updates on the anticipated hybrid model. The standard 2025 Mazda CX-5 may arrive in dealerships later this summer (2024).
