Red Mazda CX-3 SUV Trees Building Brick Road

The compact CX-3 SUV by Mazda Australia has become one of the most sought-after cars in its segment and it’s been a success story for the company. It is still in its first generation after being on sale for eight years, making it a popular option for car buyers. The Mazda CX-3 is the top-selling compact SUV in the country, ahead of its competitors, the Kia Stonic and Hyundai Venue cousins. Despite its age, the car continues to sell well, and it is currently Mazda’s second-best selling car, after the CX-5 medium SUV.

To keep up with the latest technology and safety features, Mazda has decided to give the CX-3 a second major facelift. The updated version of the car is expected to hit the market in September of this year, offering more safety tech to its loyal customers.

The updated Mazda CX-3 range will be slightly more expensive than the previous version, with prices starting from $26,800 before on-road costs for the entry-level G20 Sport. This is a little pricier compared to the pre-update version, which starts at $23,510 for the Neo Sport.

The new CX-3 range will no longer offer a manual transmission option, as the previous entry-level manual has been removed. Instead, the automatic G20 Sport will now be the most affordable version, as the entire range will use the same front-drive powertrain, which is a 2.0-litre Skyactiv-G four-cylinder petrol engine that delivers 110kW and 195Nm, paired with a six-speed automatic gearbox.

Additionally, the CX-3 range will no longer offer all-wheel drive, following the recent removal of the manual from the Mazda3 hatch. The decision was made due to a very small segment of sales for the manual transmission and all-wheel drive options.

The base model of the updated Mazda CX-3 range now comes with several standard features, including 16-inch alloys, blind spot monitoring (BSM), rear cross traffic alert (RCTA), and Wireless Apple CarPlay with wired Android Auto.

Replacing the Maxx Sport is the Pure variant, which starts from $29,300 and offers additional features like LED lights front and rear high beam control (HBC), lane departure warning (LDW), driver attention alert (DAA), and a head-up display.

The Evolve variant, priced at $31,050, comes with 18-inch machined alloy wheels, front parking sensors, white synthetic ‘leatherette,’ and tan suede upholstery.

The CX-3 Touring SP starts at $34,300 and includes a black painted roof, leather and suede interior trim with blue highlights, and advanced keyless entry. The top-spec CX-3 Akari costs $38,620 and adds a Bose sound system, glass sunroof, surround-view camera, and adaptive LED headlights. The updated Mazda CX-3 will be available for purchase in September 2023.
