The 2022 Mazda CX-5 is a Million Times Better Than the Toyota Cross

Unfortunately, the Toyota Corolla Cross bears a 2.0L four-cylinder engine that outputs an unenthusiastic 169 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque. 

A better engine equates to even better acceleration, and the CX-5 holds true to peppery acceleration. The Mazda CX-5 jolts from 0-60 mph in six seconds. The Toyota Cross goes from 0 to 60 at a lifeless 9.2 seconds. 

Another performance advantage the CX-5 holds over the Toyota Corolla Cross is its traction-enhanced all-wheel-drive system. The Mazda SUV features all-wheel drive as a standard, but the Toyota Corolla Cross charges additional for the powertrain system. 

Towing Capacity 

Another reason the Mazda CX-5 is the better SUV is its towing capabilities. The CX-5 holds a maximum towing capacity of 2,000 lbs, and the Toyota Corolla Cross won’t make it beyond 1,500 lbs. Of course, the CX-5 isn’t claiming a powerful tow capacity, but at least the Mazda SUV can tow a camping trailer, small boat, or snowmobile, can the Toyota Corolla Cross say the same? 

Interior

The Toyota Corolla Cross is tightly spaced compared to the Mazda CX-5. The Mazda CX-5 offers a total passenger space of 103.6 cu-ft, while the Toyota Corolla Cross limits passengers to 95 cu-ft. Of course, no one ever notices, but passenger space is essential for rear-seat passengers, and the Toyota Corolla Cross just doesn’t deliver. The Toyota Corolla Cross provides nothing but cramped space with 32.0 inches of rear legroom, while the Mazda CX-5 supports 39.6 inches. 

Furthermore, the Mazda CX-5 offers more storage space, with its rear cargo capacity stretching to 30 cu-ft as opposed to the Toyota Corolla Cross’s 26.5 cu-ft. 

The King of Interiors

The final reason that the 2022 Mazda CX-5 is the car enthusiasts deserve is because Mazda is the master of beautiful interiors.
