Mazda Plans to Release Three More SUVs by 2023

Mazda has recently stated that it will produce 13 new electric vehicles over the next decade. This news may be in line with Mazda’s latest announcement which is that it will release three more SUVs by 2023. Lately, it seems many automakers have been focusing on SUVs as consumer interest in reliable, family-friendly vehicles continues to increase. Mazda has enjoyed this increased interest as its Mazda CX-5 and CX-9 have been received very well. Alongside this are electric vehicles, though Mazda’s MX-30 hasn’t fared too well. With Mazda’s announcement to produce three new SUVs, electric vehicles may be on the table once again. Mazda has been updating its SUVs with new features and style updates, but the automaker seems to want to present a new lineup for consumers. These new SUVs may have electric or hybrid capabilities, but we’ll have to wait for more information from Mazda to confirm that.
Mazda to Debut Three New SUVs
Mazda recently updated its CX-5 with new styling and features. The compact SUV was first released in 2016, and ever since it has become a fan favorite. Over the years Mazda has updated the CX-5 periodically both enhancing the performance and updating the styling. As consumers wait for the next generation of vehicles, it seems Mazda wants to get a headstart on the SUV market. This brings us to the latest news which is that Mazda will be offering the CX-50, the CX-70, and the CX-90. All three SUVs are set to debut in 2023.
Mazda will continue to add to its CX line. The CX-50 will be the first SUV to arrive in the US followed by the CX-70, and then the CX-90. Mazda has said that the CX-50 will share the same architecture as used by the CX-30 and Mazda 3. This would be their SkyActiv Multi-Solution Scalable system which is used for their internal engines. As for the CX-70 and CX-90, these larger SUVs will make use of Mazda’s new longitudinal architecture. Additional information about these three new SUVs remains undisclosed, but Mazda has stated that the CX-90 will have a three-row setup and the CX-70 will have two rows. Both will feature new six-cylinder and plug-in hybrid powertrains.
With the addition of new SUVs, Mazda will begin replacing its older car models. The CX-90 for example will replace the CX-9. The CX-5 will remain, however, even after the CX-50 debuts. More information about features, performance metrics, and pricing will be revealed later in November of 2021.
