Mazda Announces Discontinuation of the CX-9

It’s a shame to hear that Mazda will be discontinuing the CX-9 for the US market after the 2023 model year. The CX-9 has been a reliable and versatile family vehicle, offering a unique combination of utility, performance, design, and premium sensibilities. It’s good to hear that Mazda is already working on its next generation of vehicles, like the first-ever CX-90 in 2024. Mazda has always been committed to delivering the best human-centric experience through its vehicles, and this commitment can be seen in the continual evolution of its products.
It’s interesting to learn about the different locations that Mazda North American Operations manages. I appreciate that they have dealers in multiple countries, including the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Colombia. It’s great to know that Mazda is dedicated to providing excellent sales, marketing, parts, and customer service support to their customers. If I ever need more information on Mazda vehicles, I’ll be sure to check out the online Mazda media center at News.MazdaUSA.com.
If you’re someone who loves the thrill of driving a hot little two-door sports car, but also needs a practical family SUV, you don’t have to sacrifice your joy for space. The 2023 Mazda CX-9 offers a driving experience that’s more satisfying than other SUVs in its class like the Hyundai Palisade, Kia Telluride, and Jeep Grand Cherokee L. Mazda has infused its hallmark driving verve deep into the CX-9, and the turbocharged four-cylinder engine adds some excitement. While the CX-9 may not be as spacious as some of its competitors, its interior is more upscale than expected thanks to premium materials and a timeless design. The CX-9 may not be the most practical choice, but for those who value driving experience, it’s still a strong contender in the SUV segment.
For the 2023 model year, Mazda has made some changes to the CX-9 lineup. The base Sport trim level is no longer available, which means that the starting price for the SUV is now above $40,000. However, the Touring model has received some upgrades to compensate for the higher price point. These enhancements include a standard captain’s chairs for the second row, as well as black or tan leather upholstery, a power sunroof, fog lamps, and a wireless smartphone charging pad.
Even the entry-level Touring model offers a lot of features that are desirable, such as leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, keyless entry with push-button start, and a power-operated rear liftgate. Additionally, the Touring model comes with second-row captain’s chairs as standard, which is a feature that many buyers of three-row SUVs are looking for. If you prefer a three-place bench instead of the captain’s chairs, you can opt for the Touring Plus trim.
