A Look Inside the 2024 Mazda CX-3
The first generation of Mazda CX-3 is approaching the end of its lifespan, with the initial release dating back to 2015 in Australia. Despite receiving several upgrades since then, it is now considered an older model SUV. Mazda CX-3, one of the most popular small SUVs in Australia, is sold in parallel with CX-30. To maintain its success, Mazda has made a few changes, including styling tweaks, equipment updates, and a more streamlined range.
Starting in September 2023, the newest Mazda CX-3 lineup will consist of five different models: Sport, Pure, Evolve, Touring SP, and Akari, with prices ranging from $26,800 to $38,620 plus on-road costs.
All CX-3 models use a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, which powers the front wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission.
Mazda ColorwaysÂ
The Mazda CX-3 exterior palette consists of seven colours, which are available on all models, with three of them costing an extra $620. The exterior colours include the newly introduced Aero Grey, as well as the existing metallic hues of Platinum Quartz, Polymetal Grey, and Soul Red Crystal. The black roof of the Touring SP model can be combined with any of these colours to create a unique look.
Safety and Driver AssistanceÂ
Mazda has equipped the CX-3 with the latest safety and driver assist technology. All models come with front and rear collision warning, which includes front pedestrian detection, emergency brake assist, rear parking sensors, rear cross-traffic alert, a reversing camera, and blind spot monitoring.
Other safety features include hill launch assist, ABS brakes, electronic stability, and traction control, along with six airbags, including dual front, front side, and curtain airbags.
Upgrading to the Pure model adds a head-up display, as well as driver attention alert, lane departure warning, and auto on/off LED headlights with auto high beam. The Pure model also comes with rain-sensing wipers, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, LED tail-lights, and LED daytime running lights.
The Evolve model adds front parking sensors to the standard safety features, while the Touring SP includes traffic sign recognition and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go function. Opting for the Akari model provides a 360-degree camera and adaptive LED headlights.
The Mazda CX-3 was previously awarded a five-star ANCAP safety rating when it was launched in 2015. However, the testing protocols have since evolved, so the CX-3 currently goes unrated.
Infotainment System
The Mazda CX-3 lineup comes with an 8.0-inch colour touchscreen infotainment system, which is operated using a multi-function controller. The infotainment system features wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto, as well as AM/FM and digital radio. In addition, the steering wheel has buttons for hands-free Bluetooth phone and audio. All CX-3 models have internet radio integration for Stitcher and Aha, an audio jack, and a USB port.
The Pure model introduces satellite navigation, while the Akari model comes with a premium Bose audio system piped through seven speakers. The Sport, Pure, Evolve, and Touring SP models make do with a six-speaker stereo.
Comfort
The rear seat of all Mazda CX-3 variants, except for the entry-level Sport model, has a fold-down armrest. The Sport and Pure models have black cloth seat trim, while the Evolve model has white leatherette and synthetic tan suede interior. The Touring SP model has black leather and grand luxe suede with blue highlights throughout the cabin. The Akari model offers black leather seats.
For powered seats, the Touring SP model is the minimum requirement. It comes with a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with two memory settings, adjustable lumbar support, and heating function. The front passenger seat also has a heating function.
All Mazda CX-3 models, except for the Sport model, come with a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear shift lever.
All Mazda CX-3 models come with body-colour door handles, green tinted windows, a rear spoiler, power windows, auto-folding power door mirrors, and a rear wiper. A chrome exhaust tip is also included.
The Evolve and Touring SP models feature gloss black door mirrors, while the Sport and Pure models have body-coloured door mirrors. The Touring SP model also comes with a heating function for the door mirrors.
All CX-3 models come with alloy wheels as standard. The Sport and Pure models have 16-inch rims, while the Evolve, Touring SP, and Akari models come with 18-inch rims. All models have a temporary spare wheel.
The Touring SP model is distinguished by its black roof, gloss black grille, and black machined alloy wheels. The Akari model comes with a tilt-and-slide powered sunroof.
All models have a 60/40-split folding rear seat. The CX-3 also has an ambient temperature display, cup holders, and door bottle holders, among a variety of storage solutions.
The Sport model comes with air conditioning, while the Pure model features a climate control system and a sunglasses holder.
