The Mazda Miata Captivates Generations
The MX-5 Miata is truly a special car that embodies Mazda’s unique car-making philosophy. The concept of “Jinba Ittai,” which refers to the unity between horse and rider, is perfectly exemplified in this fun-to-drive roadster. Mazda engineers have always had the goal of creating a lightweight sports car that provides a unique driving experience, and the MX-5 Miata has consistently delivered on that promise since its initial release in 1989. It’s no wonder that this car has gained a devoted following among people from all walks of life, regardless of their backgrounds or where they come from. The MX-5 Miata is truly a one-of-a-kind car that offers unparalleled driving fun and excitement.
The original MX-5 (NA) was introduced at the Chicago Auto Show in February 1989. It went on sale in the United States later that May as a 1990 model. The NA was considered a “lightweight sports car” because it weighed just over 2,000 pounds. Its instant popularity in the US encouraged other automakers to also try their hand at developing open-top sports cars.
Apparently, the second generation (NB) was unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show in 1997 and became available for purchase in 1999. This version had a few limited editions, such as a turbocharged model and a coupe version in Japan. I also read that in 2000, the MX-5 was recognized by Guinness World Records as the world’s best-selling convertible two-seater sports car. It’s fascinating to see how this car has evolved over the years and gained such popularity!
The Mazda MX-5! Did you know that the third generation (NC) was launched at the Geneva International Motor Show in 2005 and was the first to feature a 2.0-liter engine? It’s also interesting to note that a retractable hardtop model was introduced to the lineup a year later, which helped make the joys of open-top driving more accessible to people. It’s no surprise that this model was a hit with fans all over the world!
The Mazda MX-5 has such a rich history. The latest model was introduced in the US in 2014 and that they’ve already produced one million units. It’s amazing to think that the first ever MX-5 rolled off the assembly line almost twenty-seven years ago. Mazda has definitely come a long way since then!
Mazda’s dedication to innovation and pushing boundaries with their new ND hardtop version of the Mazda MX-5. It’s amazing how they were able to create a vehicle that both has the exhilarating feeling of open-air driving and the sleek styling of a fastback. I can only imagine how thrilling it must be to drive one of these!
Mazda’s latest MX-5 models are definitely worth checking out. With the new hardtop version, you can experience the thrill of open-air driving and the sleek styling of a fastback.
