The 2025 Mazda CX-70 Will Pack a Powerful Punch Full of Goodies

If the Mazda CX-90 seemed a bit too crowded, but the roominess was desirable, then the Japanese automaker has a delightful surprise for enthusiasts – the all-new 2025 Mazda CX-70. Despite the Zoom-Zoom automaker keeping the full specs of the CX-70 under wraps for now, it does share the same platform as its three-row sibling (the CX-90). Moreover, the CX-70 will inherit the powertrains from its three-row counterpart, offering a range of hybrid options.

Those unfamiliar with the CX-90’s powertrains are categorized based on cylinder count. The Mazda CX-90 boasts a turbocharged 3.3-liter I6 with a mild hybrid system, delivering 280 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque through an eight-speed transmission. Opting for the high-output combination kicks the power up to 340 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque.

The powertrain lineup for the three-row CX-90 also includes a 2.5-liter I4 paired with a plug-in hybrid system, which produces 323 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. Both of these powertrain options are also available on the CX-70.

While Mazda has given us a glimpse of the CX-70’s interior, the specific dimensions and specs of the upcoming model remain undisclosed. However, the images suggest borrowing the dash, media system, and driver display from its larger sibling.

So Mazda SUV enthusiasts can expect a 10.25-inch digital media display compatible with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. Inside, eager to greet the driver, there may be physical gauge faces with a 7-inch center display or a more extensive 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.

The most noticeable difference from the CX-90 is the absence of the third row. While this might imply more room for middle-row passengers and increased cargo space, it’s hard to determine conclusively from mere photos.

More detailed specs are likely to emerge as the expected launch date draws nearer later this year (2024). Pricing information should also surface around the time of the CX-70’s debut, but don’t expect it to stray too far from the CX-90’s $35,595* (excludes all taxes and destination fees) base price.
