Spy Shots Reveal More About All-New 2023 Mazda CX-90

The all-new 2023 Mazda CX-90 was recently spotted wrapped in camouflage. The three-row crossover SUV is one of two new vehicles that Mazda has teased. The other is the CX-70 which is a smaller two-row SUV. Both SUVs are expected to ride on Mazda’s new longitudinal platform and they are also expected to be offered as plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEV). They will also come equipped with a new inline-six engine. While Mazda has not revealed any extensive details about these new SUVs, given the recent spy shots, it’s safe to say that they will be arriving soon. For now, we’ll discuss the spy shots and see what consumers can expect.

All-New 2023 Mazda CX-90 Spotted

The all-new 2023 Mazda CX-90 was recently spotted wrapped in camouflage. The new three-row crossover SUV will replace the CX-9 as a more luxurious alternative. While Mazda has not said much about the CX-90, the Japanese automaker has indicated that it will arrive with a new longitudinal-engine layout. This platform will create a greater dash-to-axle ratio which will provide the 2023 Mazda CX-90 with improved handling and better ride quality. Looking at the spy shots, the three-row SUV appears somewhat bigger as evidenced by its third row. 

Other insights for the new 2023 Mazda CX-90 include its potential engine. Mazda recently unveiled a new 3.3 six-cylinder engine so this could be one of the available options. Another option would be the plug-in hybrid setup which would equip the three-row SUV with a battery. Mazda’s latest 2023 CX-60 features the same PHEV system. It comes with a 2.5L four-cylinder engine that is mated to a 129 kW electric motor and a 17.8 kWh battery. Altogether the CX-60 gets about 322 horsepower and 369lf-ft of torque. The CX-90 could see similar performance standards based on its dual fuel doors which can be seen on both sides of the SUV.

While we’ve only seen spy shots, the 2023 Mazda CX-90 looks like another SUV that will solidify Mazda as a distinct brand. The Japanese automaker is already renowned for its highly capable and engaging lineup. The CX-90 and eventually the CX-70 will only add it. Mazda has not released any further information about the two new SUVs, so for now, we’ll be staying tuned.
