Mazda to Debut All-New 2023 CX-70 and CX-90, Both Will Feature New Inline-Six Engine
Mazda will soon debut its latest mid-size crossovers, the all-new 2023 Mazda CX-70 and CX-90. These new crossover SUVs will make use of Mazda’s new longitudinal-engine platform as well as its new inline-six engine. As of late, Mazda has been busy updating and improving its lineup with new SUVs like the CX-60 and CX-50. The Japanese automaker has been wanting to move its lineup into a higher class of luxury, so with this new platform and engine, Mazda is hoping it can breach into the premium sector. It’s clear that Mazda has been steadily making moves to raise its status even further as a leading automaker. We’ll take a look at these new SUVs and see what Mazda plans to offer consumers.
Mazda to Offer Two New SUVs
Mazda will be offering two new SUVs. These include the 2023 Mazda CX-70 and Mazda CX-90. They will both be mid-size crossover SUVs and will make use of Mazda’s new longitudinal-engine platform. They will also utilize Mazda’s new inline-six engine. The CX-90 will be a three-row SUV and will replace the CX-9 while the CX-70 will be offered as a two-row variant. These new SUVs will join the CX-50 and CX-60 as Mazda’s premium SUV lineup. Pricing has not been determined yet for the CX-70 and CX-90, but they will likely start at an MSRP of $38,000 and $40,000 respectively.
The all-new 2023 Mazda CX-70 and CX-90 will likely utilize a 3.0L inline-six gas engine. Mazda’s latest SUV, the CX-60, makes use of a 2.5L four-cylinder engine that’s mated to a 129 kW electric motor. This provides it with impressive output. It’s not certain, but the CX-70 and CX-90 may also feature a similar plug-in hybrid setup. It’s likely the engines will feature a turbocharger as well as a 48-volt hybrid system. The SUVs will also come standard with all-wheel drive.
The Mazda CX-70 and CX-90 will see an increase in value thanks to Mazda’s longitudinal-engine layout. This new platform will allow for better ride quality and improved handling. It will also create a greater dash-to-axle ratio which will help Mazda stand out as a luxury class brand. We’ll have to wait and see how well-received Mazda’s new 2023 CX-70 and CX-90 will be. The new SUVs look promising especially with their new additions. The CX-70 is slated to debut in the Fall of 2022 while the CX-90 will debut in early 2023.
