Mazda CX-90 Spotted!

We’re one step closer to the Mazda CX-90. Not only will production begin for the three-row SUV begin before 2022 comes to an end, but recent spy photos captured the immense beauty. Traversing along through skyscraping altitudes, spy photographers caught the camouflaged concept of the 2023 Mazda CX-90 in Colorado. Moreover, the mammoth Mazda will replace the Japanese automakers’ current CX-9. 

Mazda CX-70 or CX-90 ? 

So inquiring enthusiasts would like to know. Is the disguised concept in the photos of Mazda’s two-row CX-70 also geared towards the American market? Unfortunately, there have been no spottings of the CX-70 yet. But here’s how we know we’ve witnessed the CX-90 in action. Try not to blink too fast and notice a third row in the spy photos. In addition, photographers also mentioned that the camo-wrapped SUV appears more extended than the European market’s CX-60. 

Although the Mazda CX-60 won’t find itself cruising along American streets, the two-row SUV will offer the automaker’s longitudinal-engine layout that supports the CX-70 and CX-90. In addition to the shared platform, the CX-60 offers a plug-in hybrid powertrain that may reach the US’s SUVs’. Furthermore, America’s already expected to inherit the new straight-six engine for the CX-70 and CX-90. 

Mazda CX-90 PHEV? 

From the looks of the CX-90’s individual fuel doors on both sides reveals plans for a plug-in variation. So the Mazda SUV may harbor a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor and an eight-speed transmission. For now, we know the CX-60 proffers a 17.8-kWh battery pack. Therefore, nothing’s official about what the future holds for the CX-90 PHEV. However, the hybrid three-row SUV should deliver 323 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. 

Now we Play the Waiting Game 

The best has yet to be revealed for the 2023 Mazda CX-90. However, it is fantastic to witness the all-new SUV come to life. Yet the design team at Mazda did a tremendous job concealing the design details for the future SUV. Therefore, we must wait for the Japanese automaker to astound us all in the upcoming months.
