Introducing the 2025 Mazda CX-70: A Spacious Alternative to the CX-90
If the Mazda CX-90’s abundance of seats felt excessive, but the spaciousness appealed to you, Mazda has a delightful surprise for enthusiasts – the 2025 Mazda CX-70. Despite Mazda not revealing the complete specifications of the CX-70, it shares a platform with its three-row counterpart and utilizes the same powertrains, offering a variety of hybrid options. The CX-70 inherits powertrains from its three-row stablemate, featuring a turbocharged 3.3-liter I6 with a mild hybrid system, delivering 280 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque through an eight-speed transmission. Opting for the high-output combination increases power to 340 hp and torque to 369 lb-ft.
In the realm of powertrain options, the three-row CX-90 includes a 2.5-liter I4 working with a plug-in hybrid system, producing 323 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. Unsurprisingly, both of these powertrain configurations will be making their way into the CX-70.
While Mazda has unveiled the CX-70’s interior, specifics about dimensions and features remain undisclosed. However, images suggest it borrows the dash, media system, and driver display from its platform mate.
This means you’ll enjoy a 10.25-inch digital media display compatible with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. The driver can opt for either physical gauge faces with a 7-inch center display or a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
The most noticeable deviation from the CX-90 is the absence of a third row. While this alteration might create additional space for middle-row passengers and cargo, it remains speculative based on visual observations.
Full specifications are anticipated closer to the expected launch later this year. Pricing details are likely to be disclosed around the CX-70’s launch, with expectations that it won’t deviate significantly from the CX-90’s base price of $40,970.
