A Look at the 2023 Mazda CX-30

Heading into the new year with new resolutions is the 2023 Mazda CX-30. Although the latest refinements are anything shy of surprising, it is beautiful to witness the 2023 Mazda3 and CX-30 receive some alterations enthusiasts can appreciate. 

Initially, the subcompact SUV’s base trim features the same 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with an additional five horses for a total of 191 horsepower. However, in addition to more horsepower, the Mazda CX-30 is more fuel efficient thanks to the modified cylinder deactivation technology. The Cylinder Deactivation tech instills the SUV with an additional two mpg for the city and highway. So the CX-30’s new ranges read 26 mpg city, 33 highway, for 29 mpg combined. Furthermore, the subcompact Mazda inherits the automaker’s new standard powertrain, all-wheel-drive. 

One area we love to see improvements in is safety and crash performance, and for the 2023 model year, the CX-30 advances. The new SUV welcomed new rear side airbags and rear seat belt pre-tensioners. In addition, the CX-30’s B and C-pillar performance improved in crashes to accompany new shin pads along the front and back door trims. Most importantly, the Mazda SUV took home IIHS Top Safety Pick + award for 2022, so let’s prepare to be amazed for 2023. 

The Mazda CX-30 Turbo engine seems mechanically unaltered, but the automaker axed the base trim of the Turbo, so the Turbo Premium is the new luxury entry point. The CX-30 Turbo Premium holds a starting price of $33,800* (excluding taxes and destination fees). The S trim is an excellent choice for any Mazda CX-30 enthusiasts who want to appreciate the naturally aspirated engine. In addition, the CX-30 S trim starts at $22,950*. Moreover, the Japanese automaker hasn’t specified a date for the release of the subcompact SUV but expects the 2023 Mazda CX-30 to hit the streets soon.
