A Glimpse of the 2024 Mazda3
Mazda is a company that is known for its sporty and powerful vehicles, but there’s more to this automaker than just their popular MX-5. In order to fund their passion projects, Mazda needs to appeal to the mass market, which is where the Mazda 3 comes in. This car is the foundation upon which the rest of the company is built. A few years ago, Mazda adopted an “affordable upscale” philosophy, which is reflected in the design language across all their models. We’re big fans of the new direction that the Mazda 3 has taken. With its Skyactiv-G 2.5-liter engine, the car can go from 0 to 60mph in a very respectable time. It also offers excellent handling and upscale cabin materials, all while still being an affordable entry level compact car. For 2024, Mazda is slightly adjusting the MSRP, possibly as an adjustment for inflation, and has dialed back the trim options for a slightly more focused offering.
The Base Trim, the 2.5 S is No Longer
It seems that the 2024 Mazda 3 2.5 S entry model will only be offered as a sedan, which may come as a surprise to hot hatch enthusiasts. It’s possible that Mazda noticed that entry level customers in 2023 didn’t prioritize cargo space as highly, which could explain why the hatchback option was removed. However, the hatchback can still be found on other trims, albeit at a higher price point. For instance, if you want the 2.5 S Premium trim with the six-speed manual, you’ll have to opt for the hatchback.
The 2.5S Premium Trim is Semi-Discontinued…Â
For 2023, there are two options for the Mazda3 Premium Package: the FWD 2.5 S Premium Package with a six-speed manual transmission and an AWD automatic. However, for 2024, Mazda has decided to only offer the 2.5 S Premium with the manual gearbox and FWD drivetrain. It seems like prices are rising for many things, including cars. It appears that Mazda may have recognized that adding an automatic transmission and AWD with luxury features to their trim could make the price too high for some of their customers. However, for those who still want that setup, they do have the option to choose the 2.5 S Carbon Edition.
