A Glimpse at the 2024 Mazda CX-90

Mazda released the first few glances of its future three-row SUV, the 2024 CX-90, slated for debut by January 2023. The Mazda CX-90 marks the first model from the automaker sold in the North American market, gliding along on the new longitudinal-engine platform with an inline-six engine. Furthermore, the Mazda SUV will act as the largest and most luxurious model, forcing the CX-9 into a much-needed retirement. 

The Mazda CX-90 image reveals a front fender that harbors an “Inline 6” badge with a vent. It is easy to confuse the three-row seaters’ exterior color with the Japanese automaker’s iconic Soul Metallic Red. However, it’s a new color from the automaker coined ‘Artisan Red,’ which Mazda revealed would become exclusive to the automaker’s larger and premium models. 

Keep in mind that the teaser of the 2024 Mazda CX-90 provides a glance at what’s in store. After all, January (2023) is right around the corner. Additionally, the new three-row SUV is an opening act for future Mazda vehicles on the automaker’s new longitudinal-engine platform and inline-six engine. Expectations for the premium SUV or sky-high since the Japanese automaker already holds an opulent lineup. Therefore, Zoom-Zoom enthusiasts anticipate a price hike to contend with other luxury models, such as the Acura MDX and Infiniti QX60. 

Back to Mazda’s expansions, the SUV lineup will also expand with the assistance of the automaker’s new two-row SUV, the CX-70. Similar to the European markets’ CX-60 crossover that harbors the same platform. In addition, the European-oriented SUV features a naturally aspirated 3.0-liter inline six engine, a turbodiesel 3.3-liter inline-six, and even a 323 horsepower plug-in hybrid powertrain with a 2.5-liter inline-four engine. Be on the lookout for variations of the inline-six and hybrid engine CX-90 and CX-70 soon.
