2023 Mazda CX-60 to Feature Plug-In Hybrid System
Mazda has been on a roll lately. The Japanese automaker recently released its first electric vehicle, the MX-30. Although the electric SUV received some mixed criticism, the automaker did not back down. Mazda stated that it will be implementing a rotary-powered plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version of the MX-30 to extend its battery range. Mazda has been making use of this new rotary engine in several of its vehicles. The latest to feature the PHEV system is the all-new CX-60. Mazda has teased the new SUV for some time, starting at one point that it would release three new SUVs in the upcoming decade. Some of the SUVs the automaker will be releasing in the future include the rugged CX-50. For now, we’ll take a look at the CX-60 and what new features it has to offer.Â
CX-60 To Feature New PHEV System
Mazda will soon be introducing the all-new 2023 Mazda CX-60. Not much has been shown of the new SUV, but details about its powertrain have been released. The crossover SUV will feature a rear-wheel-drive system as well as Mazda’s unique plug-in hybrid (PHEV) system. The CX-60 will feature a 2.5L four-cylinder engine capable of 300 horsepower. Paired with Mazda’s PHEV system, the new SUV should prove to be quite powerful and engaging. For those interested, the SUV will come available with an all-wheel-drive system at an additional cost.
Mazda has only released spy shots of the 2023 CX-60, so not much is known about the interior or exterior. Thankfully, based on the teaser shots we were able to glimpse some of the new architecture used. Mazda is known for its stylish and exquisite vehicles. With the CX-60, it seems the automaker utilized a newer design as the SUV features a relatively long hood, longer than the CX-50 at least. The familiar round grille has also gained a pair of thin LEDS that stretch into the headlights.Â
Mazda will be introducing the 2023 Mazda CX-60 on March 8th. A rumor has been spreading that the all-new SUV may not be sold in America, but based on Mazda’s claims of three new SUVs arriving for broader markets, it may still be on the table. A CX-80 was recently announced and it seems to be a three-row variant of the CX-60. We’ll have to stay tuned for more information, but regardless of which SUV arrives from Mazda, we’re sure it will embody the automaker’s best efforts.
